Extra Credit Opportunities

There are a number of ways you can earn extra credit in this class. You may do any of the following. These projects are to be done by one person not a group, and will be graded.

  1. Research paper on famous chemist. I suggest going to the following website for ideas. http://www.liv.ac.uk/Chemistry/Links/refbiog.html
  2. The paper should be typed, at least 2 pages in length, and have all references listed – including internet sites used. Remember do not plagiarize (copy)!

  3. Research paper on the history of alchemy. Same conditions apply, minimum of 2 pages, references, do not copy.
  4. Create a poster on the "harvesting", use, recycling and or disposal of an important natural resource. An example might be copper, or natural gas. Your poster should also include your references. It would be graded based upon information provided, neatness and creativity.
  5. Write a letter to the editor of the "Trident" expressing your views on the lack of recycling at the school, what you would propose to do about it, and why you feel the way you do.
  6. Create a web page or powerpoint presentation on "harvesting", use, recycling and or disposal of an important natural resource. An example might be copper, or natural gas. Your project should also include your references. It would be graded based upon information provided, neatness and creativity.
  7. Read NY Times, Scientific American, Science News, Science, internet article on chemistry and write a report using the form on the back side. You must have your article approved by me. Three (3) articles are equal to projects 1-5.
